Are Nicknames Good or Bad?

Good morning everyone! 👋 I hope you all had an amazing weekend and that your week has got off to a great start.

Today’s question is: are nicknames good or bad? Especially for the person who gets called them!

When I was a kid, I had a few not-so-nice nicknames — the kind I won’t repeat because they weren’t exactly kind and I don’t want to trigger myself or anyone else.

But when I got to high school, things got a bit more fun. The sixth formers used to call me Sloth 🦥. I actually found it hilarious! We’d laugh about it all the time, and looking back now, it’s a memory that always makes me smile.

Then in middle school, my maths teacher had his own little nickname for me — Current. I found that funny too, and I used to tell him he was original because of my last name.

And of course, being tall, I got called Lanky quite a lot. That one never bothered me either — I just took it as part of who I am.

Fast forward to last Saturday — I was in a meeting with my colleague David, and he was wearing a T-shirt that said Cheese, Chilli & Chocolate. Naturally, I had to ask about it! Turns out that’s his nickname: Cheese Chilli Chocolate Dave! 😄
It cracked me up, and now I really want to know the story behind it — so Dave, if you’re reading this, please share it in the comments!
