🕷️ The Day a Spider Made Me Laugh
Hey everyone! I hope you’re all well and had an amazing weekend — and that the start of the week has been just as good for you!
So today I want to tell you about the moment I popped round to the shop and ended up bursting out laughing.
Now, my grandma lived opposite that shop for as long as I can remember. And let me tell you — she has never been a fan of Halloween 🎃. Ever since I was little, she made it very clear that spooky season was not her thing. Maybe that’s why I never really got into the Halloween spirit myself!
Anyway, I needed to grab something from the shop, so off I trotted. As I passed Grandma’s old house, I stopped dead in my tracks — there was a massive spider stuck to the front of the house!
I couldn’t help but laugh. My grandma would have had an absolute fit if she’d seen it! This is the same woman who refused to answer the door on Halloween night — which usually led to her windows getting egged. Every. Single. Year. 😂
But seeing that big fake spider made me smile. It reminded me of all the good times in that house, and it actually made me happy to see the new tenants giving it a new lease of life.
I would’ve taken a photo to show you all… but I didn’t fancy explaining to the police why I was taking pictures of someone’s front door!
What about you — what are your thoughts on Halloween? 🎃 Love it or leave it?

Dear John
I was about 10 when Halloween entered my radar. I was in Hong Kong, and trying to grow up. We lived in Shouson Hill near Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island.
The reason I found out about it was that some Americans lived on the hill and were big on Trick or Treat. Mainly treat though, the sweet frenzy was less magical and more chocolate around the lips.
I don’t mind spiders. They eat flies.
Grandma’s tend to be sensible and old and wise and can spot trouble and metre justice with a tut or two.
It is nice that you celebrate the old and the new in the same post.
